I found the little cretin

I've been awakened night after night by this noise. Go ahead and click it. And listen. Because that is the sound of me losing my freaking little mind. I love flora and fauna as much as the next person, if not more. I love living in a streetcar suburb on more than an acre of land, so that we have rather extensive wildlife. Heck, we even have a fox den on our cliff. We have bunnies and raccoons, chipmunks and squirrels, skunks and maybe even coyotes.

We also have birds. Way to many freaking birds. They make so much noise, our little New England birds. Every morning at exactly 4:30 am, there is a cacaphony of birdies singing their little hearts out. Don't know about you, but 4:30 is NOT when I want to be accompanied by birds.

That guy, that mockingbird. He sings at night. I scream at him to shut up because he apparently likes the tree right outside my bedroom window. He studiously ignores my pleas. He is not a nice bird.

However, he is nicer than the two piliated woodpeckers we have around back. Tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap... ad nauseum.

So what about your neighborhood? Are you overrun with wildlife this summer?

We have a catbird which sounds like kittens crying. I'm used to it now, but last year when it showed up, I was constantly looking for abandoned kittens.

And we have a mockingbird as well. Wait 'til it starts mimicking the alarm clock. So not cool!

I live out in the foothills of the Berkshires. We have so many fucking birds that I want to cry. And what the hell with the chirping at 4 in the frigging morning?? Assholes. I'd rather hear traffic than that shit. Bastids.

And to think that James Taylor sang a lovely ditty about mockingbirds.

We have a mockingbird (or twelve), too. It mimics the baby crying. Fanfuckingtastic.

We had a doe in our backyard two mornings ago. She was beautiful. Also, just had a bunny tearing through here today. We've seen a muskrat or badger (can't remember now what we decided it was), a ton of squirrels and loads of birds---the highlight was the gorgeous blue bird that sat on the tip of my roof.

But, the birds in the morning make me crazy too. I have to have the fan running by 4am or they wake me up.

For the past few weeks I swear I keep hearing the doorbell ringing, but nobody is there. Uh DUH. It's the damn mockingbird. I never thought of that. I've been going nuts with the stupid doorbell. My kids think I've lost my mind. Frigging bird. Anyone have a BB gun I can borrow? (Just kidding... I can't even fish without crying I'm such a wimp.)
