So, Are You Done?

Done your CHRISTMAS shopping?

I found it crazy to see Christmas items out on store shelves last week, when it was still the month of September. Amazing. And no, I have NOT finished my shopping yet. Heck, I haven't even started any Christmas lists, never mind thought of gifts for friends and family. I still haven't gotten my kids' Halloween costumes bought yet!

I understand, to some degree, why the sellers have to put seasonal items out in advance. But by the time I'm ready to get last minute items for a holiday, and you KNOW I'm talking the day before, right? There is hardly anything left on the shelves! I need to find those candy corns and some light sticks for trick-or-treating, people! And do NOT tell me that I should "just do my shopping earlier."

Don't make me climb in this computer and smack that cute face of yours (and you are so lucky that you are cute!)!!

Sigh. I manage to find the right things. I wish I could start my Christmas shopping now (and I know a few people who have started, and 1 crazy woman who is DONE her shopping!), but my budget and my schedule, with 3 little kids, is just not allowing such a thing.

Ok, I'm done bitching.

I hope you are all set for trick-or-treating. I'm not. (At least I think I know what costumes the kids want to wear at this point in the month.) But if you do find some Easter baskets on sale soon, could you let me know? I'll be in aisle 3, drinking a gingerbread latte under the freeking CHRISTMAS TREE!

Shopping? Me? Why yes I occasionally enjoy shopping.

I'm not a shopaholic by any means. I hate malls, for example, and although there are several malls in my little city, I don't go to them unless I am forcibly dragged by my teenagers. They're stronger than I am. It will happen to your kids, too.

However, take me to a crafts fair, or an outdoor market, or even a little shopping center that isn't a strip mall, and I'm all about the shopping experience. I guess I buy into the shop locally thing, but I like to shop in places that aren't selling the same thing in Boston, New York, and Timbuctu. I know, I'm difficult to please, but I like my stuff to be a bit more unique than say, The Gap.

So, today I saw this event and wanted to clue you Boston area women in to the happenings. Now, this doesn't look like the kind of thing I'm into (pole dancing? POLE DANCING. Me? I think not!) But for the more adventurous amoungst you, I say go for it and give us all a full report. I'm serious. Live blog it for me. I live vicariously anyhow.

But while we're on the topic of shopping, let me remind you about the South End Market and get a hint about who wants to attend the first Sunday in August? That would be August 4th. I'm definitely up for it. Who else wants to try it?

Hey, Binky, what happened with that Salon idea of yours? Are you still planning on discussing the state of the universe anytime soon?
