My oldest son William has been in Nursery School for 2 weeks now.
He has loved it.
But there's one thing about this whole Nursery School experience that has me scratching my head.
He hasn't cried once. (Watch today be the day!)
But literally, not once. Not one single tear.
I'm happy that he is excited to go. I'm happy that he has met some little friends and has great teachers. I'm happy that I don't have to drop him off and worry every morning about a scene that I see occur with other Moms and Dads (children latching on to legs and begging them not to leave).
BUT...
I was expecting something.
I was prepared for something.
I had worried for weeks about the crying situation. The "don't leave me" situation. The "I'm scared" situation. Or the "I don't like it here" situation.
I even set up a modified work schedule to deal with these situations as they "came up" the first week. But, ahh... nothing.
I have learned 3 things in the past 2 weeks:
1. William was more ready for Nursery School than I thought
2. He needed Nursery School more than I could have imagined
3. And, apparently I worry too much (although this comes as no surprise to my husband)

LOL Like I said on the other blog, Goofy Kids! LOL
ReplyDeleteI'm glad, though, that he didn't go through that. I can't imagine myself having to do it LOL
I hate when kids are more ready for things that we as parents are not ready for.
ReplyDeleteLast year, I was going to help chaperone a trip to RWZ but daughter told me she didn't want to. She wanted to go and have fun with her friends. It was a little sad but I respect her independence and know she would have fun either way. Probably more fun because I would have had her siblings with me.
I love that you had planned a 'modified work schedule' that first week. Nice to hear you had thought the 'what ifs' through, and it's nice to hear he has found a place that makes him happy!
ReplyDeleteI guess parents can learn a lot at nursery school, too :)
ReplyDeleteSo we know he didn't cry. Now the big question is: did you?
