I have an idea-rrr

I was busy browsing for my stylehive. As an aside, does anyone else find it time consuming to constantly update their stylehive? It drives me nuts sometimes. But I digress....

Anyhow, I came across this. I didn't even know it existed, but it looks like FUN. And since it's location is near bars and restaurants, it might be a good outing for us NE Mamas. I know it's in Boston and all you outer states people are going Ugh, BOSTON. But it says they have free parking! FREE PARKING IN BOSTON. Who would have thunk it?

It's open Sundays. I looked at about half the vendor sites (how do you think I update my stylehive?) and it looks like there is just about something for everyone. Heavy on the purses, like that's a bad thing? But I think there should be enough to look at before hitting some watering hole. I'm totally unfamiliar with the South End, but I know it's like restaurant ally with plenty of places for drinkie poos. Does anyone know more?

So what do you think of maybe planning an outing for shopping, schmoozing, and libations?

I'm not as familiar with the South End either, but definitely count me in!

hey-
June is hell for us, we have 2 weddings and a graduation and we're visiting my dad deep down south. July? I can do July.

I think I have one free weekend in June and one free weekend in July (as of right now). I know nothing about the South End but I'd be up for it if my schedule allows.

I know nothing about the South End either, but I think I'm pretty open for both months. I have no life, so, y'know, I'm always open.

I'm all over the free parking.

Of course, if you venture out here to the wilds of western Mass, it's a whopping fifty cents an hour to park your car.

Looks like fun. I don't think I have ever been to the South End, but you know me (well, actually you don't) I'm always up for something new.

cheers!

I used to work in Back Bay which isn't far from the South End (corner of Boylston and Berkeley for those who know it) and my husband now works on Boylston, so I could sniff out some good spots for lunch/drinks. I'm not familiar with Harrison Avenue at all, but even a few blocks away are great places to hang out.

June is really, really hard for me (although, I will be spending the last weekend in Boston with my high school friends as we celebrate our entry into 40-dom this year) but July is much better (except for the very last weekend). However, a lot of the commitments I have in June are not all-day affairs, so I may be able to join you all for part of the day.

The South End is fun!

How have I lived here for more than 10 years and never heard of this either? Spending too much time on my own side of the river, I guess.

OK, we've got interest, and on the web site for the event they suggest restaurants, and some sound great. So we can talk restaurants in a bit. Let's talk schedules first.

In July we have 5 Sundays:

July 1, 8, 15, 33, 29

In August we have 4 Sundays:

August 5, 12, 19, 26

Me, I'm up for July 8 as a first choice, with August 5 as a second choice. The end of the month is always bad for me because I run out of money (honestly, it sucks so much) and then I can't have fun with alcohol and shopping.

Why don't you all post what days are best for you, and we'll get a consensus of maybe one date and one rain date. OK

August is completely open. July is a mess.

Also, by August, a raise will kick into effect, giving me a little extra for, oh, I don't know, maybe actually BUYING myself something...

My wife an I have been going to the South End Open Market for a number of years. We try to be there whenever it coincides with the South End Open Studios, which makes for a great day of crafts and art.

The best thing to do it to make a reservation at the Union Bar & Grill for brunch on Sunday between 10:AM and 11:AM (they have a special Prix Fix menu during that time, and it's one of the best brunches in Boston). Then you can sidle on over to the open market two blocks away. The best part is that there is a Silver Line station directly opposite the Union Bar & Grill, or you can park in the free parking for the open market and walk over.

If you want to know what is going on in Boston on any given weekend, visit either The Phoenix or The Weekly Dig.

Enjoy, ladies.
